JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and Responsibilities
The UN Environment Programme implements the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) and Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP), an ambitious reporting initiative to facilitate methane emissions reductions from the oil and gas sector. The OGMP is a multi-stakeholder partnership working to improve methane emissions reporting. The updated reporting framework (OGMP 2.0) launched in November 2020, is the most ambitious and comprehensive reporting framework for methane emissions from the oil and gas sector. Member companies report on methane emissions levels from all material sources across the entire oil and gas value chain, including both operated and non-operated assets.
OGMP 2.0 is a comprehensive measurement-based methane reporting framework that standardizes rigorous and transparent emissions accounting practices. OGMP reported data will be integrated by the International Methane Emissions Observatory with other data streams (remote sensing data, scientific measurements data, national inventories and related datasets on oil and gas infrastructure). A consultant passionate about data will support the analysis, assessment and integration of methane data reported by OGMP 2.0 companies into the IMEO annual report.
